Alex Zeid, ASA, MAAA, is an authority on medical cost analysis as well as life and health actuarial and regulatory issues. Mr. Zeid has over 40 years of medical cost analysis experience.

His background. encompasses a broad range of management and technical functions such as: valuation, benefit product design, pricing, underwriting, administration, reinsurance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, financial control, management reporting, experience analysis, and litigation support and management.

Alex started his own firm in 1986. He has provided actuarial and management consulting services to insurance companies, self-funded plans, associations, HMOs, PPO's, PEO's, third party administrators, associations, specialty managed care companies, hospital systems, and physician practice organizations and PEO's

His rating assignments have encompassed development of numerous health insurance policies, as well as formation of strategic alliances to market insurance and other products. He has negotiated reinsurance contracts, insurance company rates and provider compensation rates on behalf of his clients. In addition, he has developed financial models and systems for the development of new products, renewal rating, valuation of liabilities, health cost valuations, due diligence, insurance sales illustrations, annuity processing, cash value and loan processing. His financial activities for insurance companies include valuations, attesting to actuarial items in statutory and GAAP financial statements, cash flow testing, claim reserve estimates, rate renewal calculations, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions as well as financial audits of numerous insurance companies.

Alex has been active in industry activities including being the Chairman of the Actuarial Committee for the National Alliance of Life Companies for over three years and was on the Board of Directors for that organization. In addition, Alex has made several presentations before the Society of Actuaries, National Association of Insurance Commissioners, State Insurance Departments, LIMRA International, the Insurance Accounting and Statistical Association, National Alliance of Life Companies, Canadian Fraternal Association and other organizations. The Insurance Accounting and Statistical Association nominated Alex for a merit award for the paper "State of the Art Insurance Policies."

Alex is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
