AZA are regulatory actuaries that review product rate filings and assist in the oversight of clients’ financial solvency. The goal of regulatory actuary work is to ensure fair and adequate pricing and provide oversite of the actuarial work for the products.
AZA assists regulatory authorities by providing actuarial audits of the financial statements for life and health insurance companies, Health Maintenance Organizations,Preferred Provider Organizations Managed Care Organizations, Multiple Employer Welfare Associations and more.
We also assist clients with the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of labor.
Our examinations capabilities included benefits for life, annuities, structured settlements, dental, vision, major medical, Medicare supplement, short and long, long-term disability, critical illness and long-term care.

AZA has also assisted state insurance departments in reviewing life and health policy filing.
Our experience working with other state insurance departments includes assisting them in review of policy filings and their financial examinations of insurance companies.
We have worked with the states of Arkansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Arizona, Vermont, and Hawaii recently.
We understand and appreciate the issues and the intricacies involved in both policy form filing and the financial examination process and then policy form and rate review work.
In policy form reviews, we have a working knowledge and understanding of the insurance laws and regulations in the state the policy forms are filed and approved.
We also have a working knowledge and understanding of statutory accounting principles as they apply to life and health insurance products.
We are up to date on the working knowledge and understanding of statutory accounting principles and procedures as well as provocations and recommendations of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and professional requirements of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Mr. Zeid is active in the American Academy of Actuaries and is currently on the Rate Review Practice Note Work Group committee.
